STROKE DISEASE: BEYOND UNCONVENTIONAL APPROACH IN NIGERIA
Cerebrovascular Accident “CVA” refers to the stroke, it’s a brain damage aided by abrupt stoppage of blood supply to the brain.
By findings, Nigeria has more than 100 thousand cases of stroke annually. Stroke symptoms includes paralysis, speaking issues, organ malfunction e.t.c
To the chagrin of Nigerians, it’s not on record that there’s a specific medical institutions or any mechanism put in place by the government for the treatment of stroke, it thus signifying stroke cases as one of the rampant sickness affecting both well to do and the extremely poor in Nigeria.
It is worthy to note that above indices was the reason why Honourable Abass Adigun Agboworin take the bull’s by the horn and sponsored a bill indicating the reason why Federal Government of Nigeria should embark on the establishment of Specialist Hospital to cater solely for the stroke patients and its other ailments.
The bill “AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR STROKE MANAGEMENT AND FOR RELATED MATTERS” are at the final stage of ratification by the house committee on health. By so doing, the bill will cater for the needs of those dealing with stroke and the rampaging tendencies of being killed by stroke will be reduced drastically.
The most captivating thing about the bill was the choosing of our dear largest Teaching Hospital here in Ibadan “UCH” by Honourable Abass Adigun Agboworin as the pilot center for stroke while the bill also mandate the creation of such center across geopolitical zones of the country serving as annex to the UCH.

Honourable Abass Adigun Agboworin’s experience when he was a diaspora postulated his penchant to sponsor a bill on the stroke management in Nigeria.
If at just one interval a representative could perform excellently like that, therefore, I don’t see any reason why such Omolúàbí could not be given another chances to replicate the magic wand he’s been using to better the lots of his constituency and the general public.
