Member representing Ibadan South East/Ibadan North East Federal Constituency, Rep. Abass Adigun, who is popularly known as Agboworin, on Saturday, commissioned four solar-powered boreholes he constructed in a bid to provide clean and drinkable water for the people of his constituency.
The four communities, which were captured in the constituency include Tabantari area, Modina Elekuro in Ward 6, South East LG; Tafa area, Orita Aperin, in Ward 7, South East; Community Basic School, Oyelakin Balogun, Sanyo in Ward 3, South East LG and Kosodo, Oja’gbo area, Ward 11 in North east LG area of Ibadan.
Installation of the boreholes is part of the broader commitment of the lawmaker to constituency projects, focusing on sustainable development and community empowerment to his constituents.
The community leaders, residents of the communities were all seen rolling out drums in joyous mood to praise the lawmaker for the kind gesture, acknowledging the fact that they were happy with the borehole projects sited in their different domains.
While expressing gratitude to the lawmaker, they expressed that provision of the easy access to clean water would make a huge difference in their daily lives, adding that “the project is a blessing, and we thank Rep Agboworin for his usual support and commitment to our communities.”
Some other leaders and residents who spoke on the development stated in parts: “Today is a good day for us. We know him to be a promise-keeper. He can never promise a thing and not fulfill it. He is representing the people of his constituency well. He is also representing the party well. He is doing the needful for the people.
“He is a ‘reputable Honorable’ because none out of his predecessors has performed up to the level of his own performence.
“When he came here during campaign, we told him what we wanted and he assured us that he would fulfill. And today, we are happy he has kept to his promise.
“We thank him for all of these projects he has executed in our community including boreholes and streetlights. We are all enjoying the facilities. To us, he is doing more than what he did in his first term. Another good thing about him is the fact that he is practically following the steps of the governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.”
Agboworin, who was well represented in the communities by the PDP Local Excos and party stakeholders, performed the commissioning and handing over of the projects on behalf of the lawmaker.
Some of the Excos include former Chairman of the South East LG, Hon. Abiodun Adedoja (Ekolo); Ibadan North-East LG executive members led by Hon. Isiaka Fatokun (Baba Abuye); Vice Chairman of PDP Ibadan South East LG, Hon. Banjo Bigger Esq.; Ibadan South East LG Secretary, Hon. Kazeem Kareem a.k.a KK; Ibadan South East PDP Women Leader, Alhaja Kemi.
Also in attendance were the Ward Councillors of the benefitting communities, and other party stakeholders.
They urged the community members to take proper care of the project and emphasized the importance of the long-term benefits of the projects.
