The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has described the emergence of Adekanmbi as the gubernatorial candidate alongside Engr. Open Salawu as his running mate for the 2027 governorship race as a well-balanced choice capable of sustaining the developmental strides of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration under the envisioned Omituntun 3.0 agenda.
Agboworin said the pairing reflects experience, competence, and a shared commitment to continuity and progress, noting that the combination has the capacity to consolidate on the achievements recorded under Governor Makinde’s leadership while opening a new chapter of inclusive growth and development for the people of the state.

Speaking on the development through a press statement issued by his Media Group in Ibadan, Agboworin commended Governor Makinde for what he described as a display of political foresight and statesmanship.
He stressed that leadership succession is most impactful when it prioritizes capacity and the collective interest of the people over personal considerations.
According to him, Adekanmbi has over time demonstrated qualities of visionary leadership, administrative competence, and dedication to public service, while Engr. Open Salawu brings a wealth of experience, grassroots connection, and technical expertise that would complement the ticket.
“This is a perfect match for Omituntun 3.0. The combination of Adekanmbi and Engr. Open Salawu represents a blend of experience, innovation, and people-oriented leadership. It is a ticket that inspires confidence and reassures the people that the progress witnessed under Governor Makinde will not only be sustained but expanded,” Agboworin stated.

He noted that the state has witnessed remarkable transformation in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agribusiness, and economic development under the current administration, adding that the next phase of governance should focus on deepening these gains and ensuring that development reaches every part of the state.
Agboworin further called on party members, stakeholders, and supporters to unite behind the ticket, emphasizing that collective support and cooperation would be essential in achieving a smooth transition and a stronger future for the state.
He expressed optimism that with the Adekanmbi–Open Salawu partnership, the vision of Omituntun 3.0 would become a reality, delivering greater prosperity, improved welfare, and sustainable development for the people.
