The leaders and stakeholders meeting convened yesterday around 5:00pm at the residence of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Bayo Lawal where all stakeholders and leaders in Ibadan North-East LG and Ibadan South -East LG endorsed the present lawmaker representing the federal constituency at the green chamber, Hon. Abass Adigun popularly called Agboworin.
Those present at the stakeholders meeting from the said two local governments were Chief Bayo Lawal, Barrister Muyiwa Makinde, Hon. Dare Adeleke, Mogaji Abass Oloko, Hon. Funmi Arulogun, Alhaji Akeem Azeez (Gov. Makinde’s Personal Assistant), Hon. Kunmi Adesina, Hon. Gbenga Adewusi (Arole), Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, Baba Abidikugu, Hon. Abdullahi Omosheu, Hon. Olamide Akinajo, Hon. Emmanuel Alawode, Hon. Fatai Adesina, Alhaji Hazzan, Hon. Remi Yusuff, Hon. Abiodun Adedoja (Ekolo), Alhaji Dauda Yusuff, Mogaji Wale Oladoja, Hon. Muhammad Inakoju, Senatorial Women Leader, Senatorial Youth Leader, party Chairmen in the two local governments, Baba Fatokun Abuye and Engr. Sulaimon Adesina, Hon. Akeem Ige, the leading federal constituency aspirant, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin) and others. The party National Vice-chairman (South), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, was absent at that meeting.
At the commencement of the meeting, the leaders from the Ibadan South-East Local Government made passionate appeal to their counterparts from Ibadan North-East to concede the ticket to Ibadan South-East where the incumbent came from on the ground that the Ibadan North-East are currently enjoying and holding juicy positions both elected and appointed in this current dispensation.
The Leaders and stakeholders in Ibadan North-East conceded to the request but quote if only Ibadan South-East leaders and stakeholders picked their preferred candidate in person of Hon. Abass Adigun (Agboworin) who has been doing wonderfully well at the green chamber of the National Assembly.
The Ibadan North-East leaders said, he is our preferred candidate because since his assumed office in 2019, he as facilitated many developmental projects which are the basic needs of different communities like transformers, boreholes, classrooms, solar streets lights, security gates, purchased 2 new bus for mobile clinic in treating basic health care like malaria, high blood pressure and hypertension, he has done 2 big mega empowerment in less than a year for the youths, women’s, widows, special peoples, market men and women’s and also job opportunities for our youths and also his consign and welfarism of all stakeholders and leaders was marvellous, its first of the kind.
Stakeholders in Ibadan North-East spoke on the need to support Hon. Abass Adigun (Agboworin) for 2nd term, he has done beyond our expectations which we are sure he will continue if re-elected into the office. We have been in politics for a while now, no federal lawmaker did what Hon. Agboworin has served as a representative of our federal constituency and so he has our full support for his re-election.
Hon. Dare Adeleke spoke that Hon. Abass Agboworin should be given the ticket to run for second term, Hon. Agboworin has positively impacted many people of his constituency and will continue to deliver people-oriented laws and dividends of democracy to his people.
Among Ibadan South-East stakeholders and leaders only Baba Abidiguku (father to one of the aspirants who is currently out of the country and represented by his father) and Hon. Inakoju (in support of Abidikugu) was against others decision due to their over ambitious, the majority decision support and endorsed Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin for 2nd term.
The meeting continues today at the state stakeholders meeting which will be held at the Government House, Agodi Ibadan.
