The lawmaker representing Ibadan South East/North East federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has showered encomiums on Oyo State Governor, Engr. ‘Seyi Makinde, for the the comprehensive rehabilitation of Eleta -Ile-Lekan – Academy – Owode – Olorunkemi road project.
Agboworin, while expressing appreciation in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mayowa Okekale, and made available to journalists on Friday in Ibadan, stated that the move is a significant win for the community, which falls within his constituency.
The lawmaker, who is also the Chairman, Committee on Narcotic Drugs, added that the development is a true reaffirmation of the Governor’s commitment to expanding the economy of the state through provision of road infrastructure and interconnectivity of rural and city centres.
He added that the comprehensive rehabilitation is a pointer and attestation to the fact that governor Makinde is really committed to moving the generality of the people from poverty to prosperity by laying the proper foundation for businesses to thrive.
Agboworin, while noting that the road, upon completion, would play a significant role in encouraging ease of doing businesses in his constituency, said it will improve the economy and make his constituents happier.
The road, which has been neglected by previous administrations for many years, has been a source of concern for commuters and residents thereby limiting the growth of economic activities in the environment.
The ongoing rehabilitation project involves a complete overhaul, include resurfacing, drainage improvement, and the installation of solar street lights to enhance safety and durability.
Agboworin, therefore, appealed to the people of Oyo State to continue to join hands with the governor for the full realisation of his Sustainable Development Agenda in Omituntun 2.0.
The statement read, “I want to, once again, appreciate the fact that my Principal, Governor Makinde, has been making waves in Oyo State with his infrastructure projects, which include the recent commissioning of 38.48 kilometers of rehabilitated inner roads in Ibadan.
“More importantly, I feel elated that the development is touching a critical part of my constituency with the ongoing rehabilitation of Eleta-Ile-Lekan-Academy-Owode-Olorunkemi road. This is because it will bring a huge sigh of relief for the people of my constituency.
“There is no doubt that the road, when completed, would contribute to ease of doing businesses and boost the economy, apart from improving the quality of life of the residents.
“Equally, I so much appreciate the fact that the ongoing rehabilitation also links a newly constructed 1.6km Kajola-Irede-Odinjo-Alake-Sodun road, which I facilitated as a lawmaker who is passionately interested in the growth of my constituency.
“The N1bn project, which was flagged off March 21 and completed in June, has really improved connectivity and infrastructure within the adjoining communities including Oba Adebimpe layout, Odinjo junction, Sodun junction, Alake road and Kajola-Irede Academy Street.
“So, I recognize Governor Makinde’s efforts and I really thank him for working greatly to drive meaningful change as well as addressing long-standing issues like the neglected road. Thank you, Your Excellency.”
