Today, the members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chieftains of the party and stakeholders gathered at Asokoro on the occasion of the revival of the once abandoned Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI), an institution created by the PDP, which was left moribund due to years of neglect.

Speaking at the occasion, the PDP chairman Senator Iyorchia Ayu, thanked the party stakeholders for the bold step at resuscitating the institute, noting that it was historic and significant that Atiku Abubakar, one of the founding fathers of the party is today, the party’s presidential flag bearer in the forthcoming general elections.

On his part, the chairman of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Gov. Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State noted that the institute, which is the first of its kind in Nigeria will be required for training and capacity building needed to stengthen our democratic values and culture.

Other speakers including Senator Aduda of FCT, opined that the establishment of the institute by the founding fathers of the party is a confirmation that the party leadership has been dynamic and futuristic ab initio and therefore stated that the institute is necessary towards sustaining the vision of the party with the aim of strengthening Democratic values in Nigeria.

In addition, the PDP presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, the PDP Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar congratulated the party stakeholders for reactivating the PDI.
