2027: I’ll Build On My Achievements And Deliver More For My Constituents – Agboworin

The member representing Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has promised to surpass his previous achievements and deliver more impactful representation if given another opportunity to serve his constituents in 2027.

Agboworin made the commitment on Saturday during a radio interview anchored by popular journalist, Mayor Isaac Brown, on Fresh 105.9FM, where he reflected on his legislative experience, his relationship with his constituents and his plans to do more if returned to the National Assembly.

The lawmaker, who is seeking another term in the House of Representatives, said his experience over the years had equipped him with a better understanding of the needs of his constituents and the opportunities available to attract more developmental projects to the constituency.

According to him, “It depends on the individual and how you pass your message to the people. People are more enlightened now, and they know who can deliver for them. They are looking beyond promises; they want to see what you have done, what you can do and what you are capable of doing.”

Agboworin further explained that  the longer a competent representative remains in office, the greater the opportunity to attract meaningful interventions and projects to the people.

“The more we go, the more we can get what can be available for us to bring to our people. With experience and continuity, you understand the system better, you know where to go, who to engage and how to attract more opportunities to your constituency,” he said.

The lawmaker also appealed to the people of his constituency to give him another opportunity to serve, promising that his next term would be dedicated to building on the foundation already laid.

“I appeal to my constituency to give me the opportunity to serve them again. I will do more as a ranking member. With the experience I have gathered and the position I will occupy, I believe I will be in a stronger position to attract more dividends of democracy to my people,” Agboworin stated.

“I will promise only what I can do. I will not promise what is beyond my capacity just to win an election. Whatever I tell my people, I must be able to work towards achieving it. My people deserve honesty, sincerity and responsible representation,” he said.

Agboworin also spoke about the importance of continuity in leadership, noting that no public office holder would remain in power forever.

“I know that one day, I will leave, and the coming generation will follow my footsteps. That is why we must do things in a way that those coming behind us will have something to build on. Leadership is not forever; what matters is the legacy you leave behind and the lives you have touched,” he added.

He urged the people to remain engaged in the democratic process and make their decisions based on competence, experience, track record and the ability of candidates to effectively represent their interests.
