Adekanmbi Alleges Financial Impropriety Against Senator Saràfa Alli, Says He Lacks Capacity To Govern Oyo

The Governorship Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, has made weighty allegations against the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli.

Adekanmbi, speaking during a political engagement, alleged that Senator Alli, during his tenure as Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, mismanaged public funds.

According to him, Alli was given a large sum of money to purchase 19 hectares of land but allegedly embezzled the funds. Adekanmbi claimed he is also a victim in the matter.

He further alleged that during the period of local government autonomy in the state, Senator Alli owed workers salaries and allegedly ordered the arrest of workers who protested the non-payment.

Adekanmbi claimed to be in possession of reports that indicted Senator Alli and directed him to refund money to the state government. He alleged that Alli is still indebted to the state for failing to complete the repayment, yet is seeking to govern the state.

“He should come forward to explain how he intends to grant autonomy to local governments if elected, and to account for what he did as a local government chairman when he enjoyed full autonomy,” Adekanmbi challenged.

The APM candidate also stated that upon his appointment as Commissioner for Finance, he cleared all outstanding salaries owed to state workers.

Speaking further, Adekanmbi alleged that state civil servants experienced severe hardship when Mr. Zacch Adedeji served as Commissioner for Finance, and claimed that the same Zacch is now presenting Senator Alli and his brother, Adesoji Adedeji, to govern the state.

He also alleged that Senator Alli has not organized any mega empowerment programme for his constituents since 2023, despite collecting constituency allowances.
