HON . AKINWALE AKINTAYO YUSUF
FOR COUNCILLOR, IBADAN SOUTH EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT — WARD 8
My beloved people of Ward 8,
Great leaders, elders, youths, women, market men and women, party faithfuls, artisans, students, religious bodies and the entire progressive family of Ibadan South East Local Government.
With utmost humility, gratitude to Almighty God and deep sense of responsibility to our people, I, Hon. Akinwale Akintayo Yusuf, hereby officially declare my intention to contest for the position of Councillor representing Ward 8, Ibadan South East Local Government under the platform of our great party.
This declaration is not merely a political ambition; it is a continuation of years of grassroots struggle, community mobilization, political loyalty, youth engagement and service to humanity.
For years, I have remained actively committed to the growth of our political structure and the advancement of our people. From the days of progressive mobilization within the GSM political family to active participation in community political development, I have consistently stood with the people at every stage.
Ward 8 remains one of the most politically active wards in Ibadan South East, with a rich history of producing vibrant political stakeholders, loyal party men and grassroots mobilizers. Historically, elections in our ward have always been determined by three major factors:
Grassroots acceptance
Political loyalty and consistency
Ability to mobilize people beyond election periods
These are qualities I have continuously demonstrated over the years.
MY RECORDS OF COMMUNITY AND POLITICAL ENGAGEMENT
Over the years, I have contributed immensely to the political growth and organizational strength within our ward through:
1. PVC REGISTRATION MOBILIZATION
At a time when voter apathy threatened youth participation, I coordinated awareness campaigns and mobilization efforts that encouraged numerous residents and young voters to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Political analysis across Ibadan South East has shown that wards with stronger PVC awareness and grassroots sensitization consistently record higher voter turnout during elections. Ward 8 cannot afford to fall behind in this democratic responsibility.
2. PARTY MEMBERSHIP EXPANSION
I have actively participated in membership registration drives aimed at strengthening party structures from polling units to ward level. A stronger party membership base means stronger electoral victory and broader representation for our people.
3. MEDIA AND INFORMATION DRIVE
In today’s political reality, media visibility is a major instrument for political relevance and public engagement. Through online mobilization, community publicity and digital awareness campaigns, I have consistently projected the activities, achievements and aspirations of our political family and our people.
Political statistics in recent local government elections across Oyo State have shown that candidates with active media engagement and grassroots communication structures enjoy wider public trust and stronger youth acceptance.
4. COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION
I have remained accessible to the people — attending community meetings, youth gatherings, political consultations and welfare engagements. Leadership is not about seasonal appearance; it is about continuous presence among the people.
WHY I AM CONTESTING
I am contesting because Ward 8 deserves:
Accessible representation
Youth-inclusive leadership
Effective grassroots communication
Community-based development advocacy
Stronger political participation
Transparent and people-oriented representation
Our ward is blessed with intelligent youths, hardworking women and experienced elders. What we need now is representation that understands both the traditional political structure and the modern realities of governance and communication.

If entrusted with your mandate, I pledge to:
Maintain constant engagement with constituents
Promote youth empowerment and inclusion
Strengthen party unity and grassroots structures
Facilitate developmental opportunities for our communities
Ensure proper dissemination of government opportunities and information
Represent Ward 8 with loyalty, dignity and accountability

This movement is for every young person who believes that loyalty, consistency and service should be rewarded with leadership opportunities.

I remain committed to party supremacy, respect for leadership and collective progress. Your guidance and political wisdom remain invaluable to this journey.

Your support, prayers and political strength remain the backbone of every successful movement in our communities.

This declaration is a call for unity, progress and purposeful representation.
Ward 8 has a proud political history. The time has come to build on that history with energy, loyalty, visibility and people-centered leadership.
I therefore humbly seek your support, prayers and solidarity as we move together toward a new chapter of effective representation for our people.
